Holland House gets Green Key Award

PHILIPSBURG--Holland House Beach Hotel has been awarded the eco-label Green Key for the first time joining third-time awardee Princess Height Boutique Hotel. This milestone will be marked at a ceremony on June 1, at Holland House, hosted by Environmental Protection in the Caribbean (EPIC) foundation and St. Maarten Hospitality and Trade Association (SHTA).

The Green Key is the leading standard of excellence in the field of environmental responsibility and sustainable practice within the tourism industry. This distinguished and internationally renowned ecolabel stands for the commitment by businesses that their establishment adheres to strict criteria. A Green Key stands for the promise to its guests that by opting to stay in a Green Key establishment, they are contributing to making a difference on an environmental level. The high environmental and hospitality standards expected of these hotels are maintained through rigorous documentation and scheduled audits.

EPIC is the National Operator of the Green Key eco-label on St. Maarten, which is available to local hotels, small accommodations and restaurants. EPIC also operates the global Blue Flag award for beaches, marinas and tour boats.

SHTA, in collaboration with EPIC, said it is thrilled to support the efforts of environmental responsibility of member businesses.
