Helpful repair man

Andre “Fresh” Douglas has been at work since after Hurricane Irma struck on September 6. His focus has been on repairing homes of those who cannot afford to do so, especially the elderly. He has carried out repairs by himself as well as with others. He gains funds for his more than 30 projects so far by doing paid repair jobs and pooling those funds into materials and labour. He has also salvaged wood and other materials for repurposing and received donations of same. Fresh said his goal is not only to repair homes, but to teach others the skills he learned from his father. He sees opportunities in Irma’s destruction for a local construction workforce to take the lead and rebuild the country better.
