The project was one of the discussion items in a meeting on Wednesday, January 24th between Prime Minister Leona Romeo-Marlin and UN Resident Coordinator Mr. Richard Blewitt. “The signing of this project document marks yet another step on our journey to a full and sustainable recovery. The goal of this Government is to speed up the recovery process and bring about the necessary relief to the community,” said Prime Minister Romeo-Marlin.
The signing ceremony was conducted by Mr. Richard Blewitt and Secretary General Hensley Plantijn on behalf of the Ministry of General Affairs.
This is one of the early recovery projects financed from the Dutch Recovery Fund for St Maarten, under the auspices of the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations. In total €7 million has been made available during the early recovery phase for projects that will have a direct impact on the population of St Maarten.
