Getting beaches ready

Nature Foundation, with support of the Dutch Caribbean Nature Alliance (DCNA), has put a structural programme in place to clean beaches in the past week.

Despite several beach clean-ups, a large amount of trash and hurricane debris is still found on the beaches. This led the foundation to request relief funds from DCNA to structurally clean beaches. Youngsters from Cole Bay and dive operators were roped into the clean-ups for a stipend. The foundation also met with tour operators on Monday to discuss preparation for the first cruise ship passengers since Irma. The same was discussed with Government departments. For the past two months, the foundation has placed a lot of focus on cleaning both the beaches above- and underwater, making the areas safe for swimming.
