Freedom Fighters ready for One Love Reggae concert

Freedom Fighters Band

PHILIPSBURG--St. Maarten Carnival Development Foundation (SCDF) announced this week that long-time local favourite band Freedom Fighters will put the “groove and move you in all the right ways” for the One Love Reggae Concert this Friday. The concert is being organised in collaboration with CC1 St. Maarten and Presidente Beer.

This will be the third consecutive year SCDF has taken it upon itself to host the popular reggae concert for Carnival. The line-up will feature love reggae crooners Sanchez, Etana and Christopher Martin, complemented by dancehall stars Aidonia and Ishawna, and local act Freedom Fighters.

At first The Freedom Fighters Foundation was established more for Rastafarian musical reggae band purposes. At the same time, founder Roland Joe, better known as Ras Bushman, was busy with farming in St Peters, Marigot Hill. Ras Bushman reached St. Maarten on June 3, 1985, where he continued his agricultural skills at succession land in Marigot Hill. He said he has a special performance lined up for those attending Friday’s concert.

Tickets for the One Love Reggae Concert are US $40. SCDF President Alston Lourens said CC1 will also be doing some giveaways and raffling some tickets. He thanked the company for coming on board with SCDF again to make One Love a reality.
