Fixing roofs

Public Housing VROMI Minister Miklos Giterson and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) representatives visited on Sunday morning a number of houses that are part of the first phase of ongoing roof repair project, which comprises 28 homes that are nearing the completion of their roofs.

Repairs to the remaining 47 houses in the project are to be completed by year end, according to New Projects head Kurt Ruan. The roof repair project is part of the Dutch Government’s early recovery funds. The Dutch have given UNDP the go-ahead to continue the project after this phase. Giterson said he is thankful, on behalf of the St. Maarten people, for the assistance rendered via this project to the roofless by the Dutch.
