ST. EUSTATIUS--Five more contracts for the rebuilding of homes damaged or destroyed by Hurricanes Irma and Maria were signed on Thursday. All repair work is financed by the Dutch Ministry of Interior Affairs.
Councilwoman Adelka Spanner was the first to sign on behalf of her sister Irma Spanner. Her house will be repaired by D and R Construction.
The roof of Angelic Redan’s house will be repaired by Hercules Construction and that of Lucia Spanner will be repaired by Walters Construction.
Sidney Montros’ roof will be rebuilt by D and R Construction and Eunice Merkman’s roof will be rebuilt by Merkies Construction.
The first signing was on November 25 for the roof of Merville Hazel’s home. It is already under construction by Maynard Construction
Local contractor Wim de Jong is the external controller. The recovery team overseeing the works include Acting Governor Julian Woodley and Edris Bennett-Merkman of the Office of Disaster Management, and technicians Austin van Heyningen and Esmond Hook.
