First flight to Statia

St. Maarten Airways executed an exploratory flight from St. Maarten to St. Eustatius on Thursday. Captains Jeff Oliver and Ricardo Wilson and a civil aviation authority representative were greeted by Aviation Commissioner Derrick Simmons Jr. and Commissioner Charles Woodley. Both pilots were well-known to the airport and island having flown for Windward Islands Airways International Winair. The new airline recently received permission to fly and is eager to connect to Statia, according to representative Elvis Queeley. Statians are said to be happy with news of more air connection.
