Ecumenical Service to mark anniversary of Hurricane Irma

 

ANGUILLA--The government has announced that an Ecumenical Service of Thanksgiving will be held at the St. Mary’s Anglican Church, on Thursday, September 6, to mark the first anniversary of Hurricane Irma.

Governor Tim Foy, Chief Minister Victor Banks, Leader of the Opposition Palmavon Webster and other members of the House of Assembly will be present. An invitation is being extended to the wider Anguillian community to participate in the service.

Hurricane Irma hit Anguilla as a Category 5 storm with 185 miles per hour winds on Wednesday, September 6, 2017, causing widespread damage. Hurricane Irma is on record as one of the most powerful and catastrophic storms in history.
