Driven ranger

Marine biologist and Marine Park ranger Erik Houtepen (second right) will be departing St. Eustatius at the end of August. He started working for St. Eustatius National Parks STENAPA in July 2016.

After two years, he will be moving to Curaçao where he will be working on Carmabi’s terrestrial team and sea turtle programme. Over the weekend, his STENAPA colleagues and friends came together for a farewell party. Marine Park Manager and sea turtle programme coordinator Jessica Berkel (right) said they were lucky to have had Houtepen for his knowledge, hard work, data analysis and report writing. “Eric worked tirelessly. He hated to sit down and do nothing and inspired everyone around him to do the same. We wish him all the best,” Berkel said.
