Draft budget with Council of Advice

PHILIPSBURG--The draft 2018 budget is in the hands of the Council of Advice for review.

Finance Minister Richard Gibson Sr. said, on Wednesday, everything is on track for the draft budget, totalling some NAf. 484 million, to be sent to Parliament by September 1.

“The status of the 2018 budget is very healthy and it has been approved by the Council of Ministers and is now in the hands of the Council of Advice,” the Minister said in the Council of Ministers Press Briefing on Wednesday.

He added that given the timing, “it looks like we are ahead of the game and this year it will be in Parliament before September 1.”

The draft budget contains several measures to increase Government revenues including the introduction of a departure fee for the country.
