THE HAGUE--Minister Plenipotentiary in The Hague Henrietta Doran-York recently held an introductory meeting with Qualichi Faces Foundation, Unified St. Maarten Connection (USC) and Guidance Counsellors for St. Maarten students in the Netherlands. Doran-York hopes this is the start of closer ties among the foundations and with her office.
Doran-York and the organizations established a willingness in the meeting to work together for the benefit of the people of St. Maarten in the Netherlands. The organizations said collaborative efforts and support, while maintaining separate identities was the key to success.
The Minister said in a press statement that together with the organizations, she is “more than convinced” they will be able to shed positive light and grant the country and its people “the positive recognition that they deserve.”
Doran-York said she was extremely happy with the collective stance to cooperate where needed. She told the organizations the facilities at the Cabinet will always be available to them for execution of their programmes, meetings and activities. Expertise and assistance of the Cabinet staff will also be available to the foundations.
Qualichi Faces is an organization of experienced professional St. Maarten women residing in the Netherlands. It was established in 2012 by Doran-York, who was Deputy Minister Plenipotentiary at that time. The organization is for networking as well as pursuing social causes.
USC is an organization of students and young professionals that gives recommendations and assistance to upcoming young professionals and students in the areas of career choices and guidance through various activities connected to the corporate world.
The Students Guidance Counsellors, who fall under the Ministry of Education, were given information at the recent meeting about activities and possibilities of assistance, which they can count on from the other foundations and the Cabinet.
Soualiga Foundation members were also invited to the meeting, but unable to attend due to unforeseen circumstances, according to Doran-York’s Cabinet.
