SUCKER GARDEN--Two supermarkets were the victims of armed robberies on Friday. The robberies occurred during the daytime, police spokesman Ricardo Henson confirmed. Both stores are Chinese-owned.
The first robbery occurred at Rainbow Supermarket on Sucker Garden Road, where two men entered the store, one of whom was wearing a mask and carrying a firearm. It is unknown how much the suspects managed to steal during the hold-up.
The second supermarket to be targeted by robbers was Best Choice Supermarket on Well Road in Cole Bay. One person entered brandishing a firearm and proceeded to make off with an undisclosed amount of cash. This man, too, was wearing a mask covering his face.
The police are interested in any information that can lead to the arrest of these, or any other, suspects of armed robbery.
A detective noted that shop owners who fall victim to armed robberies are advised to call the police as soon as possible, not to touch anything and to close their business so that forensic evidence is not destroyed. They also are advised to either ask witnesses to wait for the police, or to give their details so they can be contacted.
