ANGUILLA--Twenty-two persons from Day Care facilities across the island recently received training in basic life-saving skills and techniques facilitated by Anguilla Red Cross. The training covered several areas, including adult, child and infant choking CPR and fire and safety training. Topics covered in the latter included types of fire, uses and types of fire extinguishers, and care and maintenance of smoke detectors and alarms.
The final phase of the Safety Project resulted in all the Day Care Centres being equipped with the installation of Fire Extinguishers, First Aid Kits and Smoke detector alarm systems. The equipment was installed by teams of Anguilla Fire & Rescue Services under direct supervision of Fire Prevention Officer Omari Bourne. The equipment was donated by First Caribbean Bank, ABC Supplies, DLG, MASA, Delta Petroleum, Cap Juluca Hotel and Sunset Homes.
According to the secretary of the Mitigation Working group of the National Disaster Committee Alwyn Richardson, “We are totally satisfied with the outcome of the project and the level of engagement. We met the intended goals and objectives, and we are grateful for the assistance of the donors and contributors.”
