CSI youths starring in Comedy Musical at Le Mercure Hotel

The CSI group pose with their swimming certificates.

MARIGOT--Some 45 youngsters from the French Quarter insertion association Centre Symphorien d’Insertion (CSI) will be performing in a Comedy Musical dinner show to be held in Le Mercure Hotel this coming Saturday, September 8, at 6:00pm. The show “Irma” is a reflection on the devastating hurricane of 2017 expressed in song, dance, comedy, poetry and theatrical skits by the children of the association.

It is also the culmination of a recent trip to Paris from July 26 to August 17 where 20 of the CSI children spent three weeks perfecting their acting, dancing and singing.

The trip included a variety of activities. The group returned with certificates for swimming (25- to 50-metre distances) after visiting an Olympic swimming pool in Paris.

Also arranged was a boat trip around Paris with “Les Vedettes de Paris,” a visit to Disneyland and the Theatre de Montparnasse “La Folle Evasion,” the partner for the theatrical training.

“For 90 per cent of the youths it was their first experience flying on a plane with Corsair and Air Antilles Express,” said CSI President Marie-Paule Rousseau-Cornette.

The trip was made possible by the support of several sponsors, including Rotary Club St. Martin Nord, Air Antilles, the Préfecture of St. Martin and St. Barths, Députée for St. Martin and St. Barths Claire Guinon Firmin, the Député for French Polynesia, and SOS Radio.

Tickets for the dinner show on Saturday are 25 euros payable at the door. The public is encouraged to come out and watch the young performers.
