ANGUILLA--A steady stream of people both young and old, attended the annual Caribbean Wellness Day Health Fair held on Friday, September 28, at the St. Mary’s Anglican Church grounds, eager to take advantage of a wide range of medical information and counselling, as well as onsite testing.

Vouchers for free medical testing at local clinics and the Princess Alexandra Hospital for pap smears, cholesterol, vision and other tests, were disbursed. There was a booth for HIV testing, for cancer, body mass reckoning, a booth testing blood pressure, and another testing for diabetes. The most popular booth was the one with the massage chair.

Caribbean Wellness Day is a regional activity designed to combat chronic diseases, diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, HIV/AIDS, cancer and other diseases through early and regular intervention. It also aims to strengthen public, private and civil society non-communicable disease prevention partnerships, and promote healthy living by encouraging the development of good health practices. This year’s theme was “Healthy Communities: Preserving the Workforce.”
