PHILUIPSBURG--As of April 8th one person tested positive for COVID-19 and there were nine recoveries, bringing the total active cases to 33. The total number of confirmed cases so far is now 2,175.

Collective Prevention Services (CPS) is monitoring 40 people in home isolation. One patient remains hospitalised at the St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC). The total number of deaths due to the pandemic remains at 27. 

  The number of people recovered since the first case surfaced on St. Maarten has increased to 2,115). Forty-one persons are in quarantine based on contact tracing investigations carried out by CPS.

   The Ministry of Public Health, Social Development and Labour VSA Airport Health Team in collaboration with Health Care Laboratory St. Maarten (HCLS) have tested 2,644 travelers arriving at the Princess Juliana International Airport (PJIA), while CPS tested 24, 628 people throughout the community. As the numbers continue to fluctuate, CPS will continue to actively execute its contact tracing measures.

  VSA-Minister Panneflek humbly apologised for the delay in the daily stats. He urged everyone to continue and register to be vaccinated. “It is your duty to protect yourself and your loved ones. If you are experiencing flu-like symptoms, remain at home and call your family doctor.”
