Country’s tourism website down due to non-payment

PHILIPSBURG--St. Maarten has been without an official website for tourists to visit since last week Tuesday when the company responsible for upkeep of

www.vacationstmaarten shut down the site due to government not making any payments.

The Daily Herald understands that the company has been sending notices and reminders about the outstanding payments for some time. Minister of Tourism Stuart Johnson said on Wednesday that he is aware of the shutdown of the website and has finalised the advice for payment with the head of the Tourist Bureau.

vacationstmaarten is the official Facebook page and website of the St. Maarten Tourist Bureau. The Facebook page has 188,454 likes. The website was shut down on Tuesday last week.
