WILLEMSTAD--The Divi Divi Air and Corendon cooperation for flights to St. Maarten has come to a premature end, now that Corendon Dutch Airlines returned its Being 737 stationed in Curaçao to the Netherlands to be operated in Europe.
Originally their collaboration on the routes of St. Maarten and Sao Paulo in Brazil would be continued until April 15. The early discontinuation of this joint venture is a direct consequence of the grounding of the Boeing 737 Max in large parts of the world. Corendon also has these aircraft in its fleet, which means there is an acute shortage of equipment.
"Corendon needs the plane to operate its European routes," said Divi Divi director Germaine Richie. According to him, the two partners are looking for alternatives.
The intention is that the aircraft in question will be operated from Curaçao again in the next winter season. "If all goes well, it will return to Curaçao in October this year," Richie added.
