Charlotte Brookson Academy Christmas production

The young talents of Charlotte Brookson Academy danced, acted and sang to enthusiastic applause and cheers on Thursday evening when they staged their Christmas production titled “We Christmas Village” in Philipsburg Community and Cultural Centre.

Despite the humidity due to no air conditioner in the building, the audience stayed riveted to their seats for the show that blended the need to pass down St. Maarten’s holiday traditions – making johnny- and sugar-cakes, being neighbourly and the concept of a village participating in a child’s upbringing – with the universal languages of dance and song. The Academy is the country’s only performing arts school. In spite of this, it remains virtually homeless with its classes spread between borrowed rooms at University of St. Martin and the tent on the ring road.
