ANGUILLA--Fourteen members of a 35-person Canadian teamarrived in Anguilla on Thursday afternoon, November 9. The British Government has funded thirty linesmen, five supervisors, six bucket trucks and two diggers to augment the Anguilla Electricity Company ANGLEC.
They were met by Governor Tim Foy, Chief Minister Victor Banks as well as Minister of Infrastructure Curtis Richardson and Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism Cardigan Connor. Also present was an enthusiastic management team from ANGLEC, led by its Chief Executive Officer David Gumbs. The team that arrived Thursday will begin to augment ANGLEC’s linesmen immediately, and the remaining team members will follow the arrival of the equipment which is due to arrive very shortly.
Anguilla also continues to receive outstanding support from the neighbouring islands: linesmen from both St. Lucia and Grenada employed with Kings Electric Company arrived in Anguilla on November 8, to assist with ANGLEC’s mission to get the entire island back on the grid by the end of the year.
