Attempted casino robbery suspect turns himself in

PHILIPSBURG--A man who fled his home recently when police went to arrest him in connection with an attempted robbery at Coliseum Casino has turned himself in.

Police spokesperson Chief Inspector Ricardo Henson said in a press release on Monday that the man Samuel Oliver “Chris” Smith voluntarily turned himself in at the Philipsburg police station on the evening of Friday, August 23. He is the second suspect in the attempted armed robbery of the casino.

He was immediately arrested as a suspect in the case and kept in custody for further investigation.

The Special Robbery Unit continues to investigate the case, Henson said.
