Attempted casino robbery suspect flees from police

CAY HILL--Samuel Orville Smith, better known as “Chris,” who is a suspect in an attempted robbery at Coliseum Casino on August 9, jumped into his vehicle and sped away when police visited his home to arrest him Friday morning.


Police spokesperson Chief Inspector Ricardo Henson said in a press release on Friday that police had attempted to arrest the suspect in the Cay Hill area as part of their ongoing investigation into the attempted robbery of the casino.
After seeing the police at his residence, the suspect fled in his vehicle. The police gave chase and the suspect lost control of his vehicle at the junction by Kooyman and slammed into a vehicle on A.J.C. Brouwer Road, injuring a passenger in the other vehicle. The suspect then jumped from his vehicle and fled on foot.
The Police Special Robbery Unit is looking for Smith and the public is urged to contact the police at tel. 542-2222 ext. 203 or 205 or mobile number 556-7498 if they know his whereabouts.
