MAHO--The gaming industry in St. Maarten will be part of the fourth annual Dutch Caribbean Anti-Money-Laundering (AML) and Gaming Regulation Forum at Sonesta Maho Beach Resort, Casino and Spa set for June 4-7.
The forum will consist of representatives of the International Governance and Risk Institute who consult and provide training for more than 30 countries in both the public and the private sectors. The forum also brings together people from the banking industry, the gaming industry, and representatives of different governments across the region.
“Our objective is to further sensitise and motivate operators on AML. As a country, St. Maarten has as a responsibility to establish a Gaming Control Board to regulate gaming. It provides a unique networking opportunity where we can learn best practices and benefit from the experience of others,” said Tourism and Economic Affairs Minister Stuart Johnson.
St. Maarten is just about to establish its own gaming control board, after discussing it for more than two decades.
