Another country-wide electricity blackout

PHILIPSBURG--“One of its larger consumers had a major short circuit on the end of their system. This incident resulted in a short circuit on the company’s grid, shutting down the plant at approximately 12:50am,” is the cause given by GEBE on Wednesday regarding Tuesday night’s country-wide blackout.

One day after power was restored to the island after a country-wide blackout, GEBE technicians and engineers were called to the power plant in the early morning of April 25 for a second outage. The cause of the damage was located immediately.

Engineers immediately began working to repair and restore power to customers. Power was restored to all clients at approximately 3:20am. GEBE apologises to customers for the inconvenience caused and thanks you for your understanding and patience during this challenging time, according to the company’s Public Relations Department.
