Anguilla’s tourism statistics show increase for June, July

Tourist arrivals for July from 1993 to 2021.

ANGUILLA--Tourist arrivals for July are positive following the low arrivals earlier in the year. July tourist arrivals totalled 4,889 and, although this is the highest for any month this year, it is the second lowest figure for July, with the lowest being in 2020. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect the world, Anguilla has welcomed 8,322 tourists so far this year. July had the highest monthly total, while the lowest was recorded in May with 601. In June some 1,923 persons visited Anguilla; this is an increase from the June 2020 arrivals, which were just 22.

The average length of stay for tourists this July was eight days with more than half intending to stay for four to seven days and 22 per cent staying for 8-15 days.

There were just five recorded excursionist arrivals in July, in comparison to no arrivals a year ago. Arrivals of this type of visitor were significantly impacted since the COVID-19 pandemic, as this type of visitor to Anguilla is usually a tourist visiting St. Maarten/St. Martin, who travels to Anguilla on a day trip to enjoy our beaches and hospitality for a day. Anguilla has implemented precautionary measures to ensure the safety of its inhabitants with mandatory screening and a quarantine period that inhibited day-trippers from visiting.
