Alex Dijkhoffz appointed Airport board Chairman

AIRPORT--The Princess Juliana International Airport (PJIA) managing board has a new chairman, as former chairman Gary Matser resigned from the position last week. Matser plans to stay on the board while former PJIA Holding Company chairman Alex Dijkhoffz replaces him as managing board chairman.

The Daily Herald requested clarity from Acting Minister of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transportation and Telecommunication (TEATT) Cornelius de Weever on Sunday, but received no answers to questions about the change of the board or whether Government would add additional members to the boards.
Dijkhoffz has been instrumental in the airport’s rebuilding phase and spearheads the ongoing claim dispute between the company and NAGICO Insurances. At the helm of the operating board, he will be able to have more say in the company’s direction.
An official press statement will be issued by PJIA in the coming days about Matser’s resignation and the new chairman. Dijkhoffz was appointed as a board member in 2016 and quickly became the vice chairman of the holding company before becoming the chairman last year. He had no choice but to resign from the holding company board, as the company’s articles of incorporation do not allow one person to head both boards of the country’s airport.
