AIRPORT--Princess Juliana International Airport SXM Air Traffic Services (ATS) met with the ATS team of Clayton J. Lloyd International Airport in Anguilla recently. Civil Aviation management participated in the meeting to lend their expertise as air space matters were discussed.
“The meeting was hosted to foster cooperation between both parties and exchange shared concerns. It is evident that both airports were affected by Hurricane Irma, but it is rewarding that we’ve been successful at resurrecting operations to better service our passengers,” stated SXM Airport Chief Operations Officer (COO) Michel Hyman.
ATS Manager Gregory Hassell said, “The PJIAE [Princess Juliana International Airport operating company – Ed.] standpoint is to regain cooperation from all units and to find a better solution to benefit the entire Terminal Control Area (TMA). As our equipment gets upgraded our capacity will also increase.
“We are working hard with the replacement of damaged equipment and I’m pleased that our COO and Acting CEO [Chief Executive Officer – Ed.] has committed to realising this. The meeting also highlighted the newly designed Anguilla GNSS Instrument Flight Procedures, which is the navigation system that is satellite based.”
Both Anguilla and St. Maarten will resume quarterly meetings. The Airport SXM ATS and the Clayton J. Lloyd International Airport ATS team are slated to meet again by mid-January 2018 for an extraordinary meeting. The quarterly meeting will include all units within the Airport SXM TMA, Grand Case, St. Barths, Saba and St. Eustatius.
