MARIGOT--Six months after Hurricane Irma, many young Adventists of St. Martin participated in Global Youth Day on Saturday, March 17, to show that solidarity continues with the youth.
“The goal of Global Youth Day is to revive the reality of Adventist youth as a global movement mobilised for service and committed to those in need,” a press release stated. “Youth is committed, through all kinds of selfless acts, to showing the people of St. Martin the ultimate hope of a better world accessible to us all.
“This day showed that inter-generational work that can be done with young people and adults acting for the same cause.
“In the districts of Marigot, Grand-Case, Rambaud, and Sandy Ground, the young people distributed meals for the elderly, offered fruit baskets, proposed a health stand, distributed clothes, and offered books, all done to make sure no one was left in need.
“This third edition of the Global Youth Day was a real success: 194 meals were distributed in the Sandy Ground district, 64 meals distributed in Marigot, 90 people visited the health stand, and 862 magazines were distributed in Grand Case.
“The young Adventists of St. Martin thank Caisse Territorial des Oeuvres Scolaires (CTOS) and the Collectivité of St. Martin for the help in offering meals for the elderly in the Marigot area.”
