To mark his entry in the Baseball Hall of Fame.

WILLEMSTAD--Government, in collaboration with “Autobus Bedrijf Curaçao” (ABC), unveiled a special bus honouring Curaçao baseball icon Andruw Jones. One of the public transportation company’s large vehicles has been decorated with a colourful design featuring Jones as central figure, celebrating his outstanding achievements in Major League Baseball (MLB) and induction in the Hall of Fame.

The official presentation took place on July 14 at ABC and marked a special moment for the island. Through this initiative, the government expressed its appreciation for an athlete who, throughout his career, placed Curaçao on the international sports map.

Minister of Traffic, Transport and Spatial Planning VVRP Charles Cooper (MFK) expressed his pride. “Andruw Jones has written history through his talent, discipline and perseverance. He achieved tremendous success in international baseball and, at the same time, became a source of pride for all of Curaçao. With this bus, we pay tribute to a son of our island who has inspired generations and continues to inspire our youth,” the minister said.

Government emphasised that its recognition of Jones goes beyond sports. His life story demonstrates that dreams can become reality when talent is combined with hard work, dedication and perseverance. For that reason, he serves as an important example for young people in Curaçao who are pursuing their own goals and ambitions.

The specially designed bus will operate on different routes across the island in the coming period, allowing both residents and visitors to experience this special tribute to one of the greatest athletes Curaçao has produced.

Government once again congratulated Jones on his historic achievements and thanked him for his contribution to the island’s international image, pride and prestige.
