61 in the bag

Sixty-one recalled Takata airbags on 41 Honda and Acura vehicle models from 2001 to 2016 were replaced on Thursday at the free three-day airbag inflator Repair-A-Thon organised by Honda.

Seven more airbags that were identified for replacement will be changed at a later date. The day's goal was 50 airbags. Some 500 vehicles on the island may be affected by defective airbag inflators, particularly in the event of an impact/accident. Motorworld, the local Honda dealership, urges vehicle owners “to have a sense of urgency to address this major issue, which could be life-threatening.” The event continues at Raoul Illidge Sports Complex today, Friday, and tomorrow, Saturday, from 8:00am to 5:00pm. No appointment is necessary. Repairs take about 45 minutes. Vehicle owners can check whether their vehicles qualify for the airbag inflator recalls by visiting hondastmaarten.com/recalls .
