215 labour complaints filed so far this year

PHILIPSBURG--A total of 215 labour complaints have been registered to date at the Labour Affairs Department, according to figures provided to Members of Parliament (MPs) by Acting Labour Minister, Prime Minister Leona Romeo-Marlin during a Parliament meeting on Monday.

  According to the figures, a total of 226 complaints were filed in 2018 and 468 in 2017. Of the 215 complaints filed thus far in 2019, 67 were from Dutch nationals, 62 were from permanent residents; 19 were from temporary residents; 45 were from undocumented workers and 22 were from persons whose legal status is unknown.

  Of the cases, one was not solved; 101 were solved; 46 referred to court; one was suspended and 66 are still pending.
