Today’s story about a Sundial School student graduating against all odds is heart-warming. Completing secondary education while taking care of an ill mother and working to help the family make ends meet is no small feat.
It took a year longer because of not getting time off from her employer to sit exams at the first opportunity, but ultimately she did it. Of course, all who passed at whatever level should be congratulated, but for some who have to go the extra mile, often through no fault of their own, success must taste even sweeter.
The Perseverance Award recognising that is a good initiative also to encourage others who may face similar difficulties. The saying that adversity builds character would seem to apply in this case.
The message is clear: Don’t let obstacles get in the way of fulfilling your potential and dreams. Turn apparent disadvantages into benefits, because they force you to be the best you can be.
Life is full of stumbling blocks, but stepping over them allows one to progress, stand tall and reach higher heights.
