Connectivity is paramount

Connectivity is paramount

The St. Maarten Annual Regional Tradeshow (SMART) taking place this week has grown into quite a tradition over the years. Already in its 16th edition, the event brings together hospitality industry professionals from the Northeast Caribbean and other major as well as potential visitor source markets.

Different kinds of local businesses also get the opportunity to present their products and services to attendees from more than two dozen places and attract possible clients or partners. This will be the longest, four-day version, ensuring significant related economic activity and earnings, especially at Sonesta Maho Beach Resort and surroundings.

Organised by both sides of the island as the high winter season winds down, it is undoubtedly a welcome boost to those involved and helps promote the destination. Moreover, hosting such gatherings solidifies its hub function. The latter is important particularly for Princess Juliana International Airport (PJIA), Winair and others, including regional traders.

Air travel is not just about holidays, but rather flying somewhere for whatever reason. Connectivity is paramount to further develop both tourism and the aviation sector.
