It’s a brand new year!

Happy New Year from The KIDS Herald to all of our readers!

You’ve probably been hearing a lot about New Year resolutions – and while you shouldn’t wait on the new year to start a new good habit, it’s certainly a time to reflect on the last year and think about the future. Kids have so much to think about because there is so much to look forward to – and you have lots of choices left to make for yourselves.

Maybe the biggest question is: What do you want to be when you grow up? What kind of work would you like to do and what kind of person would you like to be? It’s never too early to think of it, even though you don’t have to decide right now. What type of habits and skills are needed to be a firefighter, a doctor, a vet, or a business owner?

Many of the same habits – like teamwork, planning, committing time and energy to tasks, and finding solutions to problems – can help you now and throughout primary school and high school.

Putting more effort into fun activities like football, dancing, boxing, or swimming can also be rewarding and help you to develop all sorts of skills. Why not try to read about your favourite activity as well? You may be able to pick up some important tips and tricks from the pros, after all!

Think of one or two skills or habits that you would like to work on this year, and stick to them!
