Two St Maarten athletes  set National Records

Nigel Fontenelle and Adaya Bourne represented St. Maarten at the World Aquatic Championships in Singapore.

 

SINGAPORE--Two St. Maarten swimmers set national records at the World Championships in Singapore.

Nigel Fontenelle competed in the Men's 50m Freestyle event. He set a National Record with a time of 25.00 seconds.

Adaya Bourne also set a new National Record. Swimming in the women’s 50m Freestyle Bourne turned in a time of 29.63.

Traveling with the athlets are Dwight Vermeer president of the St. Maarten Aquatic Federation and St. Maarten Swimming Coach Eline Broere.

In addition to swimming the athletes attend seminars including a workshop that provided detailed information about nutrition. This workshop was intended to further inform professional athletes and coaches about the benefits and or disadvantages of Animal & Plant based proteins and how to balance their diet for optimal performance.

The coaches also attended workshops including a session on best practices and technical details of the observed strokes.
