Top and A League face off in Nine-ball

SUCKER GARDEN— Anthony Mota won the St. Maarten National Billiards Federation’s 9-Ball tournament for the A-League at the 8/9 Pool Bar in Sucker Garden Sunday. Junior Philips won the 9-Ball tournament for Top-League shooters at Café Rembrandt also on Sunday.


  Mota faced Rudolph Hyman in the first round and won 4-0. He went up against Olivier Chambeau in the second round and won 4-1 and took the day besting Robby York 5-4.
  In Top League, Philips met Anthony Watkins in the first round and won 3-2.  Next Philips met Jermain Prentice and won 4-2 and in the final Philips defeated John Vo 5-2.
   The St. Maarten National Billiards Federation has divided their shooters into divisions. The elite eight compete in the Top League, while the remaining players shoot it out in the A-Ranking Division.
  The next tournament, 9-Ball for B-League players will be Sunday at Café Rembrandt starting at 3:00pm.
