Team Gill wins 14th annual La Course de L'Alliance

SIMPSON BAY-- Gill Race Team won the fourteenth edition of the course de L’Alliance Regatta. The Course de L’Alliance was the first post-Irma regatta in the Caribbean. The fleet starteding in St. Maarten and raced to St. Barths and Anguilla before returning to the Friendly Island.
Gill Race team was skippered by Gill North America’s President David Pritchard, who came over from Atlanta to enjoy the weekend.


Frits Bus’ “Island Water World” placed second in the regatta organized by the St. Maarten Yacht Club. Arthur Banting’s “Team Sail SXM -Island Water World Too” finished the regatta in third place.
Cruising Class was won by former Sint Maarten Yacht Club Commodore Ian Hope Ross racing on “Solstice.”
The Regatta kicked off with registration and the skipper’s briefing at the Yacht Club on Thursday evening. The five-strong fleet raced their first leg towards St. Barths on Friday morning.
Team Gill took line honors day one.
After-sailing-drinks were at Le Select, followed by a 3-course dinner at Eddy’s Restaurant in Gustavia.
The fleet raced to Sandy Ground, Anguilla Saturday. The race started off with a nice breeze but lighter winds and rain showers developed coming around St. Maarten. Sail SXM - Island Waterworld Too took the first prize.
Roy’s Bay Side Grill hosted the daily prize giving and served dinners.The night was closed off with a live band from Anguilla.
Team Island Water World took the lead from the start of the final day of racing, as the fleet left Anguilla with medium winds back to St. Maarten.
The St. Maarten Yacht Club Bar & Restaurant hosted the final prize giving, with prizes being sponsored by Bobby’s Marina and Budget Marine.
