St. Maarten Under 15 stutters again, in small chase this time

CUL DE SAC—The St. Maarten U15 team crumbled badly in pursuit of 190 off 50 overs against the Northwest Panthers in the second match in the bilateral series at the Caribe Lumber Ballpark on Tuesday.


For the match, St. Maarten made six changes, but even though they bowled out the opponent for just 190 off 40.3 overs, the home boys lost by a massive 125 runs. It was the second day in a row that the home team was unable to score more than 65 runs while chasing a target and, on both occasions lost by more than 100 runs.
For the winners, Parth Patel led the way with a solid 89 off 88 balls with four fours and three sixes. Patel was very busy at the crease seeking to score off all the deliveries but was especially savage on the bad deliveries. He also demonstrated a big appetite for batting for long periods and scoring plenty runs.
Dhruvan Kiran, with 12 off 14 balls (1x4), was the other batsman in double figures. Monday’s century-maker Adnit Jhamb, who batted at #8 in this match, scored just two off seven balls.
The visitors hit seven fours and three sixes, while St. Maarten registered only one four and no sixes.
The wicket takers for the home team were Jethan Edward 7.3-0-32-2, Tyanick Honore 10-0-45-2, Keadani David 2-0-10-1, Roy Singh 3-0-9-1 and Shaiquon Stewart 3-0-23-1. The bowlers gifted 32 extras, of which 25 were wides, and seven were no-balls.
The St. Maarten youngsters were sharper in the field than Monday, which resulted in three runouts.
In response, Devanand Singh scored 24 off 50 balls. No one else scored more than eight runs. The best partnership for the local boys was 25 for the 6th wicket between Singh and Edward, who made eight runs. The best partnership for the Panthers was 30 for the first wicket between Shiv Kambalapalli (9 off 22 balls) and Dhruvan Kiran (12 off 14 balls).
The bowling figures for the visiting team were Baladitya Kathula 4-0-13-3, Sainavi Reddy Kambalapalli (female) 3-0-3-2, Arnav Jhamb 2-0-2-1, Adnit Jhamb 4-0-12-1 and Srihan Challa 1-0-4-1.
The two teams will enjoy a rest day today. However, they are scheduled to continue the bi-lateral series tomorrow at 10:00 am.
