PHILIPSBURG--The St. Maarten National Boxing Federation hosted fighters from Antigua Barbuda, Bahamas, Cayman Islands, Curacao, St. Kitts and Nevis and St. Maarten at the fifth edition of the Battle of the Islands Boxing Tournament at the L.B. Scott Sports Auditorium Saturday.
St. Maarten boxer Samir Arnell was featured in the main event. He faced Leon Ludat of Antigua. Arnell won the fight and was recognized as the best boxer of the night. He was given the Emmanuel Petty Boxer Award.
Fans were treated to eight officail fights and one exhibition match.
In the first match Keyshawn Flanders of St. Maarten defeated Jamal Smallz Jr of Barbados.
Ania Powell from the Bahamas bested Shaven Powel of St. Kitts.
The first KO of the evening appeared in fight three. Briana Kerr of the Cayman Islands Koed Lyania Richardson of St. Kitts.
Ricardi Munoz of Bonair bested Colan Smith of the Bahamas,
Zalaan Jan of Antigua Koed Alexon Pemberton from St. Kitts.
Tanicio Peterson kept the St. Maarten’s winning streak alive defeating Skype Princes of Curacao and St. Maarten boxer Jamaar Hilton bested Junior Johnson of St. Kitts.
In the exhibition match Jheremiah Rombley faced Jahiem Winston.
