The St. Maarten Sport and Olympic Federation (SMSOF) has selected cyclist Nicole Erato as their Athlete of 2021 and the St. Maarten National Football squad as their Team of the Year.
Erato placed third in the Caribbean Time Trial Championship and in the Pan American Road
Championship finished 44 in 70 plus top cyclist from Central and South America and Caribbean.
Both championships took place in the Dominican Republic.
The St. Maarten National Football team competed in the Concacaf Men’s U20 Qualifiers back in November in the Dominican Republic.
In four matches against Dominica, Greneda, Curacao and the British Virgin Island Team St. Maarten had one win and gained valuable international experience.
The federation also acknowledge sports disciplines: aquatics, cricket, netball, baseball, boxing and the automotive sports for their contributions in 2021.
