Selection returns with outstanding results at Cadet Tour of Martinique

MARIGOT—A St. Martin selection of five cyclists, three from Velo Club de Sandy Ground (VCSG) and two from Association Sportif de Marigot (ASM) returned to the island on Monday laden with trophies after performing brilliantly at the Cadet Tour of Martinique which took place June 2-5.

A welcoming committee for the team at Grand Case Airport included Third Vice-President of the Collectivité Dominique Louisy, Senator Annick Pétrus, President of the Territorial Cycling Committee of St. Martin Eric Hélan, and proud parents.
The team comprised George Kisean, Jahkim Carty, Luis Philippe Isidore, Edgar Mercedes Brooks, and Jahiem Kennedy Hodge.
Consistently high placings on each stage gave the St. Martin selection “Best Team Overall” in the final classification. Some 53 cadets started the tour from Guadeloupe, Martinique, Dominica and French Guiana.
Jahkim Carty, finished second overall in the tour, and was third overall in the Green Jersey sprint standings. Edgar Brooks finished 13th in the overall standings, Louis Isidore Philippe 14th, and Kennedy Hodge 16th.
There was bad luck for George Kisean who had a flat on the second stage and could not get immediate assistance and was unable to finish that stage.
“I want to congratulate the whole team for a wonderful job in Martinique and to thank the President of the Territorial Committee Eric Hélan for giving us this opportunity to make it happen. I’m very proud of the selection,” said Coach Patricio “Blade” Carty who accompanied the team. “We are really making a name for ourselves.”
The focus now will be sending a selection to the Cadet Tour of Guadeloupe in July.
