ISLE DE SOL MARINA--Orange Grove will headline the “Party for a Cause” Carib Swim Team Fund Raiser at Fat Turtle this evening starting at 7:00pm.
“Admission is free,” explained Divina Mirpuri. “There will be jars to donate to the swim team.”
The CST pool facility in Cole Bay has been closed since Hurricane Irma.
“We had just invested in a professional timing system for competitive use to upgrade the pool so that we could initiate invitations to other teams to come to St Maarten and host inter Island competitions,” said Mirpuri.
The pool was damaged and has now been fixed. The team needs water.
“We have a huge outstanding with GEBE as there was a leak in the pool shower area that we were not aware of,” explained Mirpuri.
The goal is to raise approximately US 4,000 to pay off the bill and cover operational coast for about a month as the team gets back in the pool and swim lessons resume.
The teams head coach left island. A new coach will be sought and a new contract will have to be negotiated. Also the amount of swimmers that will return to resume lessons is not yet know so a working budget nor costs of lessons has been established.
The goal is to start filling the pool by mid-month and begin registration and pool activities by January 30.
