Maidwell unstoppable at 3rd Albert Rousseau Duathlon

FRENCH QUARTER--The third annual Albert Rousseau off-road Run/Bike/Run took place on Sunday in French Quarter organised by SXM Sport Evasion. Conditions were fast and dry for the race. The course consisted of a 2K Run (twice) and a 5K Bike.

Participation was down this year compared to last year. Organiser Jean-Paul Rousseau explained that some clubs invited could not make it either due to conflicting engagements or other issues. It meant some categories such as Elites, Cadet and Junior were missing.
Mark Maidwell (SXM Sports Evasion) who continues to transition effortlessly from road bike to mountain bike, to running, won the Masters category. Karl Spijker (Chain Breakers) was second, Richard Ramsammy from St. Barths was third, and Jose Gibbs (independent) was fourth.
The Pupille category was won Fantois Ottone (independent. In the women’s race it was Celine Verdonck (SXtreme Runners) first and Agnes Farin (SXtreme Runners) second.
The event was made possible by Mooi Flowers and plants, Sol Ecolution, Quintessence, Flowers R Us, Ital Shack, Marshall Good Plumbers, Fantastic Hotel, FSCT, Tri Sport, Outlet, AFPS 978, Pharmacies St. Barths and French Quarter, NAPA, Kooyman, Credit Mutuel, KFC Derick, Clive; French Quarter and St. Barths Pompiers.
