PHILIPSBURG—Double Trouble’s Sherwin Osbourne from Anguilla won the Elite category and Mo Trouble’s Mark Maidwell was first in Masters at Cyclone Club’s Thrills in the Hills cycle criterium race held in Pointe Blanche Sunday.
With the start time pushed back to the hottest part of the day it was a punishing race for the participants despite deceptively short loops. Elites had to do the most laps of 35 of the undulating 1.2Kilometre loop on Goldfinch and Pigeon Roads, the small hills taking a toll as the race wore on. Masters were required to do 30 or 35 if they wanted to compete for a cash bonus.
The younger riders did a shorter 90 metre course on Goldfinch Road. Elites, Masters, Juniors and Cadets started together.
Thierry Francis (ASM) was second in Masters and Otis Cotton (Mo Trouble) third. Kasie Martin (ASM) was the second placed finisher in Elites.
Yehudi Destouches (ASM) was first Junior, Remi Arrondell (ASM) second and Jacques Dieunoe (ASM) third. In pre-Juniors Kianny Noel (ASM) was first and overall winner. The Teen category was won by Vernon Hill (VCSG), Seven Romney (Cyclone) was second and Wilson Sanon (JCO) third.
In Pre-Teens, Jahkim Carty (VCSG) was first and overall winner in all youth categories, Aaron Halley (VCG) was second and Ramzan Naheem (Cyclone) third. In the Youngsters category Dandry Burgan (VCSG) was first and Trinity Romney (Cyclone) second.
Ashton Benitez (VCG) took first in the “Younglings” category, Alfredo Artsen (VCG) second and Pedrie (VCG) third. The pre-license category saw Kielan Lewest (VCG) first, Lance Parot (VCG) second and Darion Carter-Davis (VCG) third.
