Local baseball talent turns pro

 Junior King from St. Maarten has signed a professional baseball contract. King, a first baseman signed with the Vermont Mallards for the 2022 season. The Mallards are a new team in the Frontier League. They will play 130 games starting in April and run through October. King is finishing his final year at Genesee Community College and played a season with the Road City Explorers in the Empire League. At 6-feet 4-inches and 250 pounds King played in 26 games in 2019. He had 65 at bats averaging .338. He connected for 22 hits, scored 15 runs, drove in 13 and had three home runs.
