 Fast times set, records broken at Guardian Group Invitational

COLE BAY—Fourteen new Carib Swim Team records were set as the Swim Team hosted its annual two-day invitational swim meet on the weekend. The competition was sponsored by Guardian Group for the  second year.


  A total of 39 swimmers competed with many personal best times set.
  New Carib Swim Team records were set by Adriann Coppelmans (10 years) 400 Individual Medley, Nikki Grandtner (12 years) 200 backstroke and 400 Individual Medley, Taffi Illis (18 years) 100 breaststroke and 800 freestyle, Matias Piazza (12 year) 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 800 freestyle and 100 butterfly, and Joey Schwartz (10 years) 800 freestyle, 1500 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 200 breaststroke, and 200 Individual Medley.
   CST swimmers also achieved many new time standards. Several new 'BB' times were recorded, including Chris deWilde earning his first two cuts (100 breaststroke and 200 Individual Medley).
   New 'A' times were earned by Matias Piazza (100 breaststroke), Nicolas Piazza (100 backstroke - his first 'A' time!), Joey Schwartz (100 freestyle and 200 freestyle), Gigi Cai (200 freestyle), Nikki Grandtner (100 backstroke - her first 'A' time!), and Adriaan Coppelmans (100 backstroke - his first 'A' time!).    
   Additionally, Joey Schwartz earned his first 'AA' time in 200 Individual Medley, and Matias Piazza achieved a 'AAA' time in 100 butterfly.
The Carib Swim Team’s next competition will be a sprint 'pentathlon' meet on November 22.
