'Emilio's Sports Corner’ with a mini football field coming soon

PHILLIPSBURG--The Sint Maarten Football Federation (SXMFF), in cooperation with Rainforest Adventures NV, the Royal Netherlands Football Association (KNVB) and the Royal Belgian Football Association have together invested in the construction of the, soon to be unveiled, mini-football field next to Emilio Wilson park.

The cooperation itself was initiated by the regional football association Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF,) the Caribbean Football Union and Union of European Football Associations (UEFA). All these partners came together for the benefit of the development of football in St. Maarten in part due to the relationships established among the soccer organizations during a recent trip of the St. Maarten Football Federation Board to attend meeting in Russia in conjunction with the World Cup. The trip of the St. Maarten delegation was sponsored by CONCACAF .
Rainforest, as part of their civic contribution to the people of St. Maarten, made a portion of their property available to SXMFF for this sports project, which will not only include a space to play football but also space for other sports to be practiced. The new sports place will be called Emilio’s Sports Corner.
The agreement between Rainforest and SXMFF was signed on Tuesday, 3 July 2018, and the first phase of the construction started immediately the following day. SXMFF will manage the use of the field.
“We are overjoyed with the cooperation we received from our football partners in the region and Europe and also humbled by the partnership established between the Rainforest Adventures N.V. and our Federation,” said president of SXMFF, Sudesh Singh. “We are looking forward to unveiling the new mini-football field very soon. More cooperation between our international football partners will follow soon which will all be for the benefit of the development of football in Sint Maarten.”
