Curaçao got four medals

WILLEMSTAD--Athletes of the host country earned a total of four medals during the Carifta Games over the long Easter weekend at Curaçao's National Sports Centre SDK.

  Glenn Kunst won gold in the pole vault. He jumped up to 4.65 metres, which is a record for the regional youth games.

  High jumper Jaden Bernabela got silver. Among the women there was bronze for Qyone Antersijn in the 1,500 metres and Shuriantly Mathilda in the 800 metres.

He also set a new record for the games

  Curaçao finished seventh in the overall medal count. Jamaica was first with 86 medals in total, including 39 gold.

  Curaçao will be hosting Carifta in 2020 again. According to organisers it was a great success.

  Kunst also received the Sir Austin Sealy Award for the most outstanding athlete during the games.
