PHILIPSBURG – City of Gods won the first of its kind for seniors 3x3 knockout Sunday. Island Hoops, in collaboration with Coors Light SXM hosted the tournament.
Five teams tipped off to take home the grand prize of $500. In the end, City of Gods, consisting of Kevin Edwards, Jason Smith, Claude Alexander and Omar Beauperthuy - was the last team standing.
“It was definitely a fun experience. We all had a great time playing this organized form of 3-on-3 on the Boardwalk with the beach in the background. I look forward to more events and encourage more seniors to participate”, Omar said.
The event was also the official hand-over of supplies brought in by RebuildSXM. The foundation, based in The Netherlands, provided Island Hoops with a pair of much needed portable systems, along with an additional two portables donated by the Dutch Basketball Federation (NBB).
